Outreach to Swaziland
Spetember 2010
The Lord gave us a mandate to have an outreach in South Africa and all other African nations with Swaziland being the first. For the first time, LSFM Church was able to send three of its own members on an outreach to another country. The team consisted of Asanda Kupe, Mawande Mani and Babalua Khungekile.
Swaziland is tiny landlocked kingdom surrounded by South Africa and Mozambique. It has a population of just fewer than 1.2 million people, most of who live on less than $1.25 per day.
Goals for the outreach
1. Evangelism.
2. Relationship building.
3. Scouting out the land for possible future church planting.
4. Helping strengthen churches and organizations.
Accomplishments
1. Ministering to the sick: Ministered healing to a very sick bed-ridden man who had gone pale and the doctor already sent him home. While the outreach team was praying for the man, they could see instant healing come over his body. He got up and started praising the team members and asked if they were using any magical power. This gave our team the opportunity to minister salvation to him. He then accepted Christ as Savior and promised to follow Him. The team later introduced the man to a local pastor that they were working with.
2. Ministering to the troubled soul: A mid- fifties man that had been carrying unforgiveness in his heart against his brother finally forgave his siblings after hearing the word of the Lord through the team. He confessed that he now experienced the inner peace that he had never experienced before.
3. Ministering at a local orphanage: The team had a great opportunity to work with kids at a local orphanage housing 15 kids.
4. Garden built: The team joined the locals in the building of wooden fence around their gardening project and helped till the land and plant seedlings.
5. Soccer tournament: This was organized by the team in order to unite different communities in the area. It was a great success and we will be having a similar program in December.
6. Family fed by the team: The team put their outreach money together to buy and cook food to feed the people they stayed with during their time in the community.
7. V.B.S for children: A Kid’s Vacation Bible School was organized and the children we showed them the love of Christ through Bible stories, games and through the team members themselves.
8. Door to door evangelism and prayer walk in the community. The team went door-to-door evangelizing the community, conducting daily bible studies and encouraging the new believers to fellowship in a church. The team walked around the community praying over the land. They felt led to do feet washing for the village leader and his wife, a process which brought emotional healing to the community leader's family.
9. Help fetch water and house work: The team helped with house work such as fetching water for home use, for gardening purposes and for the animals.
Effects of the outreach
1. The team experience personal growth and was amazed as they saw the book of Acts in action.
2. The community wants them/us back. So we will be sending another outreach group in December.
3. God made what seemed impossible, possible.
